Tips for maintaining high speed through the Overpass bridge section

Hiro_JP92 (CL) Xp: 11978
I have been grinding the career mode a lot lately, and I wanted to talk about the bridge section on Overpass. When it is sunny, this part of the track is incredibly satisfying. You can basically floor the accelerator with a level 3 engine upgrade and just glide through the sweeping right-hander without touching the brakes, provided you have decent sport tires. The grip is perfect, and you can build up so much momentum heading into the final straight.

However, the moment the weather changes even slightly, that entire section becomes a nightmare. If you do not have your tire upgrades maximized, you will find yourself sliding straight into the outer wall before you can even think about activating your nitro. I have experimented with backing off the throttle right before the bridge entrance, but it feels like it kills too much of your lap time.

Does anyone have a consistent line for this specific sector when the track conditions are less than ideal? I am trying to figure out if it is worth sacrificing some engine power for better tires just to stay competitive on Overpass, or if I should just keep practicing my drift angles. Let me know what upgrades you guys are running for this track.

I respectfully disagree with going completely flat out there. While it feels fast, I find that a quick lift off the throttle right before the apex actually settles the car much better. It prevents understeer and gives you a significantly higher exit speed heading onto the straight.

Must be nice playing on easy mode with that perfect sunshine! Now try keeping your foot pinned to the floor when the Overpass gets hit by a sudden downpour. Let me know how many times you kiss the guardrail before you finally learn to lift off.

Must be nice living in perpetual sunshine! Let us know how that floor it strategy works out for you when the dynamic weather kicks in and those sport tires turn into banana peels. The Overpass guardrail is just waiting to give you a very close hug.

I see where you're coming from, but in my experience, running a level 3 engine with only sport tires on the Overpass bridge usually leads to nasty understeer if you don't lift. To truly keep it floored without braking, you really need to upgrade to race tires or tweak your downforce, otherwise you will slide wide on that right-hander.

That sweep is pure bliss in the dry. Just watch out for the expansion joint bump right at the exit of the bridge. If your suspension is too stiff, it can upset the car and send you into the guardrail. I usually soften the front dampers slightly to absorb that transition while keeping the throttle pinned.

You nailed the setup for that section. Taking that Overpass sweeper flat out with sport tires and the level 3 engine feels amazing when the sun is out. It is the absolute best way to carry speed into the next straight.

I completely agree about the dry grip there, it feels amazing. To carry even more speed, try softening your front anti-roll bars slightly. It helps the car settle much faster during the transition onto the bridge deck, preventing that mid-corner bounce that can upset your line.

I remember trying this last weekend with a drift setup and totally wrecked against the outer barrier. Once I switched to the sport tires and that level 3 engine though, nailing that sweeping right-hander without lifting was incredible. If you clip the apex just right, you carry so much speed onto the main straight. It is easily my favorite section of Overpass now.

I finally trusted my sport tires and kept the throttle pinned on that Overpass sweep last night. I used to lift out of habit, but with the level 3 engine, just committing to the line feels incredible. I clipped the inner apex perfectly and carried so much speed onto the straight. Just watch out if a stray cloud rolls in, because wet asphalt there is a nightmare.

I remember when I finally unlocked the level 3 engine for my muscle car and hit the Overpass bridge in the sun. I used to always panic-brake there, but once I threw on the sport tires and just held the throttle down, it was a total game-changer. Clipping that apex at full speed without sliding into the barrier is easily one of the most satisfying moments I have had in career mode so far.

I used to always tap the brakes there out of habit. Once I upgraded to the sport tires and trusted the grip, flying through that right-hander at full throttle was a total game-changer. I actually shaved a full second off my personal best in career mode last night by just keeping my foot down. It feels amazing when you nail the line.

Flooring it on a sunny day with sports tires? Cute. Wake me up when you try that same Overpass sweeper in the pouring rain. The guardrail is waiting to say hello!
