Finding the optimal braking points for the tricky corners on Skyline

Rapido_41 (CO) Xp: 27681
I have been spending a lot of time on the Skyline track lately, trying to shave a few milliseconds off my personal best in career mode. While everyone talks about the straightaways where you can just dump all your nitro, I feel like the real difference is made in the corners, especially that sharp left-hander right before the final straight. If you carry too much speed there, you end up hitting the outer wall and losing all momentum, which completely ruins your run.

After experimenting with different tier 3 tire upgrades, I found that you actually need to tap the brakes much earlier than the visual indicators suggest. If it is sunny, you can turn in aggressively right as you pass the second billboard on the right. However, if you get hit with fog or rain, that braking zone needs to be pushed back by at least two car lengths.

I have noticed a lot of players in career mode trying to drift through this section, but in RacingGame, drifting seems to scrub off way too much speed compared to a clean racing line. What are your setups for this track? Do you prioritize engine power to make up for the exit speed, or do you stack tire grip to hug the inside line? I would love to hear how others are tackling this section.

For that final left-hander on Skyline, do you use the billboard on the right as your braking marker, or have you found a better visual cue to help carry maximum speed onto the straight?

So that is why the wall on that left-hander has a permanent dent with your name on it! If you want to stop using the barrier as your personal braking assist, try tapping the anchors right when you pass the red billboard on the right. Your bumper will thank you.

I ruined so many runs on that exact left-hander. I used to overshoot, hit the wall, and watch my lead evaporate. Last night, I realized if I brake right as my hood aligns with the yellow billboard on the right, I can drift perfectly into the final straight. Shaved a full second off my PB after doing that.

Are you trying to drift through that final left-hander or are you aiming for a clean grip run? I usually brake right as the shadow of the overpass hits the track, but which car class are you using?

I lost a championship win last week because of that exact corner. I tried to carry too much speed, clipped the inside curb, and spun right into the barrier. Now, I always force myself to brake right when the asphalt color changes from light to dark. It feels painfully slow going in, but the exit speed onto that final straight is where you actually claw back the time.

Are you trying to grip run that sharp left-hander or are you drifting through it? I usually tap the brakes right when the overhead gantry passes, but I'm curious if you've tried downshifting early to help rotate the car?

You are absolutely spot on with this focus. Everyone is obsessed with top speed on the straight, but mastering that final left-hander on Skyline is where the real podium finishes are made. If you nail the braking point and hit the apex just right, the exit speed carries you all the way to the line. Thanks for bringing attention to this crucial spot!

So you are saying the wall isn't meant to be your personal braking cushion? I knew those fresh paint scrapes on Skyline's final left-hander looked familiar! Seriously though, try hitting the brakes right as you pass the red sign on the right. Let off the throttle, apex late, and you will actually survive to use that nitro. Or just keep wall-riding, it is pretty entertaining to watch.

I used to ruin my best runs on that exact left-hander by sliding right into that outside barrier. I finally found that if I tap the brakes right as my front bumper passes the red billboard on the right, I can clip the apex perfectly. It instantly shaved half a second off my personal best and set me up for a perfect nitro exit onto the final straight.

Focusing on that final left-hander is absolute genius. Most players just rely on raw nitro power, but nailing that specific braking zone on Skyline is the true key to a perfect lap. I started braking just after the bridge shadow and my exit speed onto the straight improved massively. Excellent observation on where the real time is saved.

You are spot on about that final left-hander. To avoid understeering into the barrier, try braking right when your front wheels pass the shadow of the overhead gantry. If you trail brake slightly and aim for a late apex, you can hook the inside curb and floor the throttle much earlier, which sets up a perfect run for the final straight.
