Finding the optimal braking points for the tricky corners on Skyline
I have been spending a lot of time on the Skyline track lately, trying to shave a few milliseconds off my personal best in career mode. While everyone talks about the straightaways where you can just dump all your nitro, I feel like the real difference is made in the corners, especially that sharp left-hander right before the final straight. If you carry too much speed there, you end up hitting the outer wall and losing all momentum, which completely ruins your run.
After experimenting with different tier 3 tire upgrades, I found that you actually need to tap the brakes much earlier than the visual indicators suggest. If it is sunny, you can turn in aggressively right as you pass the second billboard on the right. However, if you get hit with fog or rain, that braking zone needs to be pushed back by at least two car lengths.
I have noticed a lot of players in career mode trying to drift through this section, but in RacingGame, drifting seems to scrub off way too much speed compared to a clean racing line. What are your setups for this track? Do you prioritize engine power to make up for the exit speed, or do you stack tire grip to hug the inside line? I would love to hear how others are tackling this section.
