My strategy for mastering the elevation changes on Overpass during fog races

Takumi_US57 (KR) Xp: 29201
I have been grinding the online career mode for a few weeks now, and while I finally got the hang of Skyline and Switchback, Overpass in the fog is still giving me nightmares. The elevation changes on this track are already tricky to handle, but when the visibility drops, it feels like a completely different beast. I used to rely heavily on visual cues like the red barriers and the overhead signs, but in thick fog, those don't appear until you are practically on top of them.

After losing a bunch of career points, I started experimenting with my build specifically for this combo. Instead of dumping all my cash into the engine, I actually rolled back to a balanced setup with level 3 tires and just level 2 nitro. Having that extra grip when you drop down from the main bridge section is a lifesaver because the car doesn't slide out as easily when you can't see the apex of the turn.

My main tip for anyone struggling here is to coast just a fraction of a second earlier than you think you need to before the blind drop. If you try to power through with nitro like you would on a sunny day, you will end up in the wall every single time. How are you guys setup for this track? Do you prefer maxing out tires, or are you somehow managing to drift through the fog with high engine builds? Let me know.

I totally agree, those blind crests on Overpass become a complete guessing game once the fog rolls in. What saved me was switching my focus to the track's rumble strips and the force feedback. Even in zero visibility, you can feel when you clip them. I also started memorizing the engine RPM pitches to know exactly when to brake before that massive drop.

So you are the one leaving bumper paint all over the Overpass guardrails! Relying on road signs is amateur hour anyway. Try listening to your suspension compress at the blind crest next time, or just do what the rest of us do and pray to the fog gods.

Wait, you guys were actually looking at the road on Overpass? I thought the meta for fog races was just using the scraping sound of your bumper against the barriers as a navigation tool. Trust the elevation drops to guide you, or at least let the physics engine do the steering for you!

I completely blew my lead in a Tier 3 lobby last week because of that exact issue. I missed the braking point on the second blind crest in the fog and flew straight into the barrier. Since then, I started listening to my engine and memorizing gear shifts instead of looking for signs. Now I tap the brakes right as my suspension decompresses on that hill, and it saved my career run.

Your tip about adjusting to the blind drops on Overpass without relying on those overhead signs is a total lifesaver. That elevation drop right after the main straight is brutal in the fog, and your approach to using the curb physics instead of visual cues has completely saved my career mode runs. Thanks for sharing this breakdown!

I understand why you look for those landmarks, but relying on visual cues during Overpass fog runs can actually hurt your times. The fog is too inconsistent for barriers to be reliable. It is much more effective to ignore the signs and focus on your force feedback and engine audio to gauge the elevation changes. Memorizing your gear-shift points for each crest is far more reliable.

I respectfully disagree with trying to find alternative visual markers on Overpass when the fog rolls in. Relying on sight during those blind elevation drops is a trap. Instead, try focusing on your force feedback and engine audio. The suspension compression and RPM changes will tell you exactly where you are on the hill long before any barrier or signpost becomes visible.

So you are the one I always see launching off the crest into the abyss! Relying on overhead signs is so last season. Real pros on Overpass just use the braille method: scrape the guardrails until you find the apex. See you in the fog!
