We need a way to sell back or exchange upgrades in career mode

I have been playing the career mode a lot lately, especially trying to optimize my times on Overpass and Switchback. One thing that really frustrates me is how locked in we are once we purchase an upgrade. Right now, if you spend a ton of cash on a max engine build for Skyline, and then you want to switch to a high-traction tire build for a snowy Switchback race, you basically have to grind all over again to afford the new parts.

I think the game would benefit massively from a respec or sell-back system. Even if we only get fifty or sixty percent of our cash back, it would make experimenting with different setups so much more viable. Currently, if you make a mistake and upgrade nitro too early, your career progress just stalls because you cannot handle the corners on the wet or foggy tracks.

It would be awesome if we could go into the garage, click on our engine or tires, and have a downgrade option that refunds a portion of the currency. This would encourage people to try out weird builds and actually engage with the weather mechanics more, instead of just sticking to one safe, generic build because they are afraid of wasting their hard-earned points. What do you guys think? Would this ruin the progression, or would it make the career mode more dynamic?

Would you prefer a straight cash refund at a loss, say fifty percent of the original price, or a direct part-exchange system where we can swap things like engine upgrades for tires of equal value?

Exactly. We need a resale system, even if it's just a 50% return. It is ridiculous that we can't strip down the Skyline and use those funds for snow tires on Switchback. They could also let us share parts between cars of the same class. The current grind just discourages experimenting with different tunes.

Wait, you mean you don't enjoy sliding your max-power Skyline off the snowy cliffs of Switchback? Sounds like a skill issue! But seriously, some of us don't have fifty hours to grind for a tire swap. We definitely need a garage refund or trade-in system.

I did this exact thing last week. Spent almost all my credits on a stage 3 turbo for my Skyline to beat the Overpass time trial, then got completely stuck on the snowy Switchback event because I couldn't afford proper tires. I had to grind the beginner cup for three hours just to progress. A simple 50% refund option on parts would save so much needless grinding.

This is exactly what career mode needs. Having to grind all over again just to swap my Skyline from a speed build to a high-traction setup for Switchback is so frustrating. A part exchange or sell-back system would make experimenting with different builds actually fun instead of a chore. Fully backing this idea!

I understand where you are coming from, but I actually enjoy having upgrades locked in. It forces us to commit to a specific build, like your Skyline engine setup, and encourages building a diverse garage of specialized cars for tracks like Switchback rather than just swapping one set of parts back and forth. For me, that commitment adds a nice layer of strategy to the career progression.

I understand the frustration with the grind, especially when preparing for tricky tracks like a snowy Switchback. However, I actually prefer the current system. Having upgrade choices carry permanent weight forces you to think strategically about your garage. If we could easily swap or sell back parts, it would take away from the progression and make the career mode feel a bit too easy.

You hit the nail on the head. Having to grind all over again just to swap a max engine Skyline into a high-traction build for a snowy Switchback is exhausting. A partial refund or exchange system for upgrades would make career mode ten times better.

Would you prefer a system where we sell parts back at a loss, say 50% of the purchase price, or should we be allowed to swap previously owned upgrades on and off the Skyline for free once we buy them?
