Finding the perfect racing line for the hairpin sections on Switchback
I have been spending a lot of time in career mode lately, specifically trying to shave some seconds off my personal best on Switchback. Those tight hairpin turns at the end of the track are absolutely brutal if you do not get your entry angle exactly right. Currently, I am running a level 4 engine with level 3 tires, and I find myself sliding way too wide on the second to last turn, which completely ruins my exit speed for the final straight.
Do you guys tend to lift off the throttle completely before entering the turn, or are you tapping the brakes to drift it? I have tried both, but drifting seems to bleed too much momentum, and simply coasting through makes me a target for anyone behind who has better tires. I noticed that if I try to trigger a short burst of nitro right as I straighten out, I can sometimes recover, but it is super risky and often ends up with me spinning out into the barrier if the grip is not perfect.
I would love to hear what lines you are all taking through that specific section. Are you hugging the inside curb early, or do you prefer a wide-in, tight-out approach to maximize your exit speed? Any advice on upgrade balance for this specific track layout would also be highly appreciated.
