Finding the perfect racing line for the hairpin sections on Switchback

I have been spending a lot of time in career mode lately, specifically trying to shave some seconds off my personal best on Switchback. Those tight hairpin turns at the end of the track are absolutely brutal if you do not get your entry angle exactly right. Currently, I am running a level 4 engine with level 3 tires, and I find myself sliding way too wide on the second to last turn, which completely ruins my exit speed for the final straight.

Do you guys tend to lift off the throttle completely before entering the turn, or are you tapping the brakes to drift it? I have tried both, but drifting seems to bleed too much momentum, and simply coasting through makes me a target for anyone behind who has better tires. I noticed that if I try to trigger a short burst of nitro right as I straighten out, I can sometimes recover, but it is super risky and often ends up with me spinning out into the barrier if the grip is not perfect.

I would love to hear what lines you are all taking through that specific section. Are you hugging the inside curb early, or do you prefer a wide-in, tight-out approach to maximize your exit speed? Any advice on upgrade balance for this specific track layout would also be highly appreciated.

I respectfully disagree that the entry angle is your main issue here. With a level 4 engine and only level 3 tires, you are putting down too much power for your current grip level on those Switchback hairpins. Instead of changing your line, try upgrading your tires to level 4 or feathering the throttle much earlier before the apex to stop that sliding.

I had the exact same issue on Switchback with that level 4 engine and level 3 tire combo. I kept sliding way too wide into the dirt on that penultimate hairpin. I ended up having to brake much earlier than the indicator suggested and literally hug the inside curb until the apex. It felt slow, but it shaved a full second off my time because my exit speed was so much cleaner.

While I understand why you are focusing on the entry angle, I actually think your main issue is the imbalance between your level 4 engine and level 3 tires on Switchback. With that much power, you are bound to slide wide on that second-to-last hairpin regardless of your line. I would highly recommend upgrading your tires to level 4 first to get the necessary grip before adjusting your angle.

Level 4 engine with level 3 tires? No wonder you are sliding into the scenery! You are basically putting rocket boosters on shopping cart wheels. Before you blame the Switchback hairpins, upgrade those tires to match your horsepower, or at least learn where the brake pedal is. That second-to-last turn requires some actual finesse, speed racer.

Of course you are sliding into the barrier! Running a level 4 engine with level 3 tires is basically asking to drift straight into the scenery. You have got all that horsepower and zero grip to steer it. Try upgrading those tires to level 4 before you paint the Switchback walls with your rear bumper again.

I struggled with that exact setup for weeks. With the level 4 engine, you carry way too much speed for those level 3 tires to handle on the penultimate hairpin. I used to slide into the barrier constantly. I finally fixed it by braking much earlier than the assist line suggests, hugging the inside curb, and delaying my acceleration until the car was completely straight. It saved me a second.

I struggled with that exact setup on Switchback for weeks. I kept drifting right into the barrier on that second-to-last hairpin because the level 4 engine carries way too much speed for level 3 tires. What finally worked for me was braking much earlier than the indicator suggests, taking an extremely late apex, and feathering the throttle. It feels slow, but it saved me a full second.

Focusing on that second-to-last turn on Switchback is brilliant because it really defines your exit speed for the final straight. Balancing a level 4 engine with level 3 tires takes serious skill, and your dedication to perfecting that tricky entry angle is awesome to see. You are tackling the hardest part of the track the right way.

I really admire your focus on mastering those Switchback hairpins. Running a level 4 engine with level 3 tires takes serious skill to control, especially on that brutal second-to-last turn. Your dedication to shaving seconds off your PB in career mode is inspiring!

Level 4 engine with level 3 tires? You are basically putting rocket boosters on a shopping cart and wondering why you are flying off the Switchback hairpins. Try upgrading your rubber before you blame the track, or maybe just learn where the brake pedal is!
