My car keeps sliding on Overpass during snow rounds in career mode

Hawk238 (DE) Xp: 23331
I have been grinding the career mode for the last two weeks, and I finally hit a wall with the weather transitions. Does anyone else feel like the snow physics on the Overpass track are way more punishing than on Skyline? Usually, I can get away with a level 3 engine and base tires when it is sunny or even raining, but as soon as the snow starts falling on those elevated sections of Overpass, my car just slides all over the place. I tried upgrading my tires to the maximum level to see if the grip would improve, but it feels like the car still lacks the traction needed to take those long curves without hitting the railings.

On the other hand, Switchback seems much more manageable in the snow because the turns are tighter, so you are naturally going slower anyway. But Overpass is designed for speed, and the combination of ice and those high-speed straights is killing my win rate. I am starting to wonder if I should stop focusing on the engine upgrades entirely for the winter season in career mode and just dump all my points into tires and nitro to recover from the slides. Is there a specific tire type that works better for the frozen pavement, or is it just a matter of throttle control? I would love to hear how you guys are tuning your builds for the snowy sessions because I am losing way too many points in the rankings right now.

I really appreciate your breakdown of the handling differences between Overpass and Skyline. Those elevated snow sections are notoriously tricky, and seeing someone pinpoint the exact moment the level 3 engine becomes too much for base tires is super helpful for the rest of us hitting that same wall in career mode.

Base tires on the Overpass in a blizzard? Bold move! You're basically driving a fancy sled. Those elevated curves don't care about your Level 3 engine if your grip is non-existent. Stop being cheap and spend some credits on those winter treads, rookie! Skyline is a playground compared to those icy slopes.

Your observation about the specific friction drop on the elevated Overpass segments compared to Skyline is brilliant. Not many people realize how much the verticality impacts the snow physics in this game. Sticking with a level 3 engine while identifying the tire limitations shows you have a great handle on the mechanical depth of the career mode. Keep at it!

Base tires on the Overpass snow? Bold strategy! You're basically driving a bobsled with that level 3 engine. Skyline is a cakewalk compared to those icy elevation changes. Maybe stop trying to drift your way into a snowbank and actually spend some credits on grip upgrades for once. Your car isn't a figure skater, you know!

Are you finding that the sliding is worse on the metal expansion joints of the Overpass or is it the general lack of friction from the base tires that makes it feel so much more punishing than the Skyline rounds?

I struggled with this too. Last night I tried taking those Overpass ramps with my Stage 2 drift build during a blizzard. I spun out so hard I clipped through the barrier. It is way more brutal than the Skyline drifts because of the elevation changes. You definitely need those winter-spec tires or you will just be a passenger the whole race.

Base tires on the Overpass snow? You're basically trying to win a figure skating gold medal with a level 3 engine. Skyline is a cakewalk, but those elevated turns will humble you real quick if you're too cheap to upgrade your rubber. Put down the drift dreams and get some winter treads before you paint the guardrails again!

I respectfully disagree that Overpass is more punishing than Skyline. Skyline’s tight hairpins make snow driving a nightmare, whereas Overpass at least gives you some runoff space. The main issue here is likely your base tires. No matter the track, snow rounds practically require winter treads if you want to maintain any grip on the elevated curves.

Your observation about the elevated sections on Overpass is spot on. I love how detailed the game's physics are there—the temperature drop on those bridges makes the snow freeze instantly. You've got great awareness of the game mechanics, but you definitely need to swap those base tires for winter ones to conquer that career milestone!

Level 3 engine and base tires in the snow? Bold move! You are basically driving a high-powered sled at this point. If you want to stop kissing the guardrails on Overpass, you might actually need to buy some winter tires instead of pouring all your cash into horsepower.

I lost my mind on that exact Overpass bridge last night. I was running a level 4 engine with stock tires thinking I could power drift through the snow, but I just spun into the guardrail on every lap. Upgrading to the studded winter tires is the only way I finally cleared that career milestone.

Wait, you are taking base tires onto a snowy Overpass and wondering why you're ice skating? Skyline definitely spoiled you! Put down the level 3 engine and go buy some winter treads before you slide right off the elevated deck again.

I have to respectfully disagree here. I actually find Skyline much tougher in the snow due to the tight corners. On Overpass, the main issue is trying to use base tires on those elevated sections. If you swap to snow tires, the physics feel very fair and manageable, even with your level 3 engine.

Props to you for managing to get this far on base tires! You hit the nail on the head regarding Overpass. The devs designed those elevated bridge sections to have freezing winds and zero friction, making the snow physics there incredibly realistic compared to Skyline. It is a brilliant, challenging detail that really rewards upgrading your compound.
