Overview

Overpass is one of the first tracks in the roster that feels meaningfully different from the simple geometry set. The layout twists through crossing lines, bridge-style transitions, and irregular angles that force you to read farther ahead. It is also an XP-gated track in Career, so many players meet it after they have already built habits on cleaner layouts. Those habits help, but Overpass asks for more planning.

The key difference is rhythm. On Rectangle or Square, the next corner is visually obvious. On Overpass, the route folds across itself and changes angle in ways that can make the next braking zone feel hidden until you have memorized it. Fast laps come from knowing what the next two sections are doing, not merely reacting to the corner in front of the car.

That makes Overpass a strong progression check. It does not abandon the fundamentals from earlier tracks, but it combines them in a way that punishes lazy vision. You still need straight braking, late apexes, and clean throttle, yet the real step up is deciding where the car should be before the next piece of road is obvious. The sooner you look ahead, the slower the track feels.

Layout Breakdown

The lap starts in the lower-left area and runs along a broad lower section before bending toward the right. From there the route climbs, crosses back through the center, and threads through a tighter technical middle before reaching the upper lanes. The SVG is intentionally more complex than the early tracks: several diagonals overlap visually, and the line changes direction at different angles instead of repeating a single box rhythm.

The lower run is the main speed-building zone. The center is the decision zone. It includes the bridge-like crossing rhythm where poor entry speed can ruin two or three following turns. The upper section then rewards clean preparation, because it gives enough room to accelerate only if the car exits the middle straight. Treat the middle as the lap's anchor; everything before it sets up the entry, and everything after it depends on the exit.

Best Racing Line

Use conservative braking the first time you enter the center complex. Overpass punishes late recognition more than early caution. Approach the crossing section from a stable line, brake before the angle change, and avoid adding throttle until the car has a clear path to the next segment. It is better to give up a small amount of entry speed than to arrive sideways and lose the entire middle.

On the faster lower and right-side sections, use the full width and build speed gradually. When the route folds back through the center, choose apexes that open the following lane rather than apexes that merely shorten the current corner. Overpass is a track where the "best" corner often looks slightly slower in isolation because it makes the next section much faster.

In traffic, be careful with side-by-side entries through the bridge rhythm. The racing line narrows conceptually even when the road still has space, because both cars need a clean angle for the next transition. If you cannot complete the pass before the center, it is often smarter to back out, take the better exit, and attack on the next longer lane.

Beginner

Spend your first laps learning the order of sections. Do not worry about lap time until the route feels predictable. Overpass can be confusing because its lines cross visually, so use clear landmarks: lower straight, center transition, upper lane, return. Once the order is memorized, braking points become much easier.

Intermediate

Focus on the center complex. If your lap time varies a lot, the middle is probably the cause. Enter it slightly slower and check whether your exit speed improves. A stable center exit usually beats a dramatic entry that leaves the car fighting for grip.

Expert

Expert pace comes from making Overpass feel less complex than it looks. Link the middle as one planned sequence, use only the steering needed for each angle change, and deploy nitro only after the route straightens. In races, avoid side-by-side moves in the crossing rhythm unless you already have the inside position secured.

Lap review should focus on whether the center exit gives you a clean lane afterward. If you are fast into the bridge rhythm but slow leaving it, the entry was not actually fast. Overpass rewards complete sequences, not isolated moments, and the center exit is the easiest place to see that truth. Stable exits also make overtakes safer. Treat that exit as the lap's checkpoint before judging any braking change or setup choice next time.

Overpass needs a balanced build. You need enough speed for the lower and upper lanes, but the track is decided by braking stability and grip through the center. It pairs naturally with Skyline as an advanced unlock-gated challenge, but Overpass has more abrupt transitions and less pure flow.

Do not judge the car only by the fastest lower-lane speed. Overpass is won by how well the setup survives the center without sliding, bouncing, or forcing a lift after every angle change. A slightly slower but more predictable car usually produces better full-lap results.
